Meet the Councillors

Richard Morgan - Chairman
Richard has lived in Matching all his life and farms in partnership with his brother. He has been a District Councillor for Matching and the surrounding areas for 24 years. He has recently been appointed to Matching Parish Council and is also a Sheering Parish Councillor.

He is a local magistrate and is a founder member of Harlow Tye Rotary Club and also Matching Green Classic and Sports Car Club and has always been keen to support the Village Hall and local community.

Richard was elected Chairman at the Annual Parish Council Meeting in May 2008

John Binder - Vice Chairman
John was born at Number 8 Parkside, Matching Tye, moved to Chalkpits, Matching Green and now still lives in the village in The Colvers. He is happily married to Angela and has two daughters, Nicola & Lisa. For the past 25 years he has worked as a self employed plasterer.

John, his brother, father, and grandparents all attended the village school. During the years he played for both the football team and the cricket club and still takes an active interest in them.

He is involved with the Council to help manage, protect and improve the local parish for future generations and was elected Vice Chairman at the Annual Council Meeting in May 2008

Joan Bowerman - Councillor
Joan has lived in Matching since 1968, and Is very involved with village life. She has been a Councillor for 16 years, and is also a member of the Parochial Church Council, the W.I., and secretary of the Matching Village Hall Management Committee. Life is pretty busy, with hobbies being horses, flower arranging, singing and bell-ringing, but enjoys council work most of all as it is very varied. It also enables her to meet other parishioners and try to help with any concerns they may have.

Anita Darken - Councillor
Anita has lived in Matching Green since 1976 and runs a livery and competition training stables situated on the edge of Matching Airfield. From this base she competes, trains apprentices and coaches riders at all levels. Her successes include Junior European bronze medalists, judge at National Championship level, and is a member of the main National Training Committee for the sport.

All this keeps her very busy but she really enjoys the parish work as it prevents her from becoming too insular within the horse world and provides the opportunity for her and her husband to meet local people, become aware of parish concerns and contribute to what she feels is a strong and enviable community in this unique area.

Anita served as Chairman of the Council from 2005 to May 2008

Derrick Lawrence - Councillor
Derrick is married with three children. He has lived and worked in the locality all his life. He is a director of a local company which he founded 30 years ago, which works mainly in the area.

He is part of the management committee of Magdalen Laver Village Hall and was heavily involved in the new halls construction. He runs the local youth club and has done for 30 years.

He lives on a smallholding in the parish growing and rearing his own organic food and livestock. Environmental issues are his great concern particularly the preservation of our village green and other open spaces.

Paul Moulds - Councillor
Paul was co-opted onto the Parish Council on 5th January 2009 following the resignation of Stuart Tinney. He has lived in the Village for 12 years and is a member of the Village Hall Management Committee. He can often be seen walking his dog around Matching Green

Michael Taylor - Councillor
Michael is 43 years old, married to Stephanie and has lived in Matching Tye for nearly five years. He has over 24 years experience in the financial services industry, specialising in social housing and commercial property lending. His interests include gardening, cooking, golf and being a member of the Matching Green Classic & Sports Car Club. Michael was elected as a Parish Councillor on 18th March 2010.
